Hair Removal With Waxing FAQs

  • How long should my hair be to get waxed?

Hair needs to be 1/4” to ½” for smooth waxing. Depending on your hair growth, this means waiting 3-4 weeks (minimum of 3 weeks) from the last time you shaved. The longer the wait, the better the results.

  • Can I get waxed on my period?

Yes, you can absolutely get a wax on your period. You’ll need to wear a tampon during your service, but otherwise it will be business as usual.

  • I’m pregnant; can I get waxed?

Yes, we will do everything we can to make our pregnant client feel as comfortable as possible during their waxing service, and we use hard wax.

  • Can I tan before and after getting waxed?

In order to ensure the most comfortable wax experience, we recommend that you avoid sun exposure for 48 hours before and after waxing.

  • How do I prepare for waxing?

To ensure an amazing wax experience, you must prepare for a wax by exfoliating the area several days prior to your appointment.  Make sure to moisturize every day.

  • What should I do for aftercare?

Avoiding ingrown hair is easy if you make sure to exfoliate 2-3 times per week. We also offer a variety of products, including dry brushes and vajacial treatments, that can help minimize ingrown hairs.

  • How long will my wax last?

Depending on your hair growth, it should last up to 4 weeks, and that’s why we recommend waxing every four weeks for the best results.

  • Does waxing hurt?

The question everyone asks is, “Does waxing hurt?” is nearly impossible to answer! Everyone has a different scale for pain tolerance, and what is painful for someone may not bother someone else. However, both our wax and process work together to offer you the most comfortable service possible. If you’re still worried about managing sensitivity, we recommend taking an ibuprofen or a Tylenol an hour before coming for your appointment to help maximize your comfort. Waxing more frequently will help with sensitivity.

  • Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

Your hair won’t grow back thicker and darker after waxing; it’s the opposite! Hair that is removed from the root grows back softer and finer over time.

  • What is the minimum age to get wax?

There is no waxing age limit. However, if you’re under 18 years old, please bring a parent or guardian on your first visit, as we need their consent.

  • Will someone be allowed in the room with me?

In order to provide the best experience possible, only the client and wax tech are allowed in the room during an appointment.

  • If I’m taking Retin-A or Accutane, can I get waxed?

These medications increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates, so waxing could lift your skin. Please let your wax technician know immediately if you are on any medications. Also be aware that chemical peels, lasers, and microdermabrasion can also affect skin.

  • What kind of wax do you use?

We use two different types of wax; both are incredible. For the face and more sensitive areas of the body, we use a hard wax. Depending on the type of service you are getting, we also use a soft wax for larger areas on the body, such as legs, arms, chest, and back; it is removed by using a strip.
